A Great Baking Stone

A GREAT BAKING STONE not only provides the baking surface, but also evens out oven hot spots and cuts down the amount of heat lost when the oven door is opened. NYB baking stones are made of cordierite, an industrial refractory material used in commercial deck ovens that's stable to 2300°F/ 1250°C, FDA approved as safe for food, and 5/8"/2cm thick for superior heat retention.

Our baking stones come in two sizes: 16"x14"/40x35cm and 20"x16"/50x40cm. We can also cut stones to order, up to a largest dimension of 24"/60cm. Simply specify the size you need in the "Special Instructions" box in Step 1 of the checkout process. To determine the size stone you need, measure your oven's internal dimensions and subtract 1"-2"/ 2.5-5cm to allow for proper heat circulation.
